This month, Riyaaz Amlani will launch the country's 10th and the city's fifth Social — the all-day bar, café and collaborative workspace, whose brick walls have been replicated across eateries and watering holes — at Bandra Kurla Complex's G-Block, Capital building. We picture suit-clad professionals from the area congregating at this watering hole.

The Impresario chief has collaborated with architect Ayaz Basrai to create a Russian bunker ambiance with an austere, stark vibe. The space is a throwback into the Cold War era. Look forward to TV racks playing videos of soldiers marching on loop, and propaganda banners on walls.

"We've created a Communist vibe using a brutalist design, raw, simple and functional. It's minimum intervention, maximum upcycling," reveals Amlani. When we stepped in for the first glimpse, we were impressed with the community tables placed on tracks, so that they can be moved and joined to accommodate groups of ranging sizes.

The menu will remain the as previous Socials. Read the interview in this Sunday's edition.
