Three questions with Belgian Techno DJ, Marco Bailey

'There is much more competition in DJing, now'

2. You have stuck to Techno since the 90s, what attracts you to the genre?
I was playing Trance from 1990 until 1995, but from the years after 2000, Trance became very commercial with lots of vocals and almost each time, the same baselines. I found that Techno was much more creative and more experimental somehow, and I got more and more involved with Techno.

3. You’ve been a DJ for a long time. Is there more competition now?
Yes, because nowadays it’s easier to make music on the laptop, which was impossible years ago. Back in the day, you could only make tunes with a big studio and only with expensive equipment. Now, so many young guys are making music only with the laptop, naturally, so many more tracks are coming out and thus, much more competition.

Marco Bailey will perform in the city today, 10 pm onwards
AT Royalty, Waterfield Road, Bandra (W).
CALL 42296000
COST Rs 700 to Rs1,200
