Renowned American guitarist Denis Azabagic will perform in the Pune on Friday

Strum up a storm

Denis Azabagic is not your average rock star. He does not tie his hair in a bandana, nor does he dress in torn jeans. But he does possess the ability to mesmerise audiences with his impressive guitar skills. The 40-year-old artiste is looking forward to his debut performance in the city on Friday.

Critics have said of Azabagic that he becomes one with the instrument, as he strums his fingers over the strings of his guitar. The guitar maestro, who has performed in different parts of the world, balances his solo recitals with chamber music performance that range from melodies from the Baroque era to more contemporary tunes.

Destiny calling
At the age of 20, Azabagic won the first prize at the Jacinto e Inocencio Guerrero, a prestigious international guitar competition in Madrid, Spain. The budding artiste managed to not just enthrall audiences with his sound, but also the jury comprising renowned musicians from around the world.

After witnessing Azabagic’s performance, renowned Spanish composer Anton Garcia Abril was compelled to say, “I am sure that with time, Azabagic will be one of the greatest guitarists in the world.” Critics speak of Azabagic in the same vein as musical geniuses like John Williams. Don’t miss this musician live in concert.
