While most parents across the city are busy grappling with their hyperactive little ones, Shalini Thackeray can't help but flash a proud smile, when she looks at her daughter Muskaan. The nine-year-oldu00a0 and her "two best friends from the building -- Dhriti and Devanshi" are busy creating a variety of craft products for sale, so that they can donate the proceeds to a girl's home run by the Vatsalya Trust. Talk about thinking big.
The girls plan to donate the proceeds from the sale to charity.

"Glass paintings, tissue paper holder, envelopes, gift cards, mats and coasters ufffd" rattles off Muskaan, as she lists the (mostly) stationery products that she and her friends are readying to sell. The tiny do-gooder came up with the idea of turning her arts and crafts hobby into a philanthropic activity after a visit to a girl's home in Vikhroli during her Diwali vacation, last year.
"Few people donate money, so I thought why not get more people to donate by selling them things they need," answers Muskaan innocently when asked why she took up the project. The products made by Muskaan and her friends will be on sale today at an exhibition organised in her housing society.
Second time over
This is not the first time that the enterprising girl has raised money for the home. In December last year, she managed to raise almost Rs 10,000 by selling her creations. "I didn't even know what she was up to. It was only when a neighbour knocked on the door to make her contribution that I realised what she was doing," says the proud mother.
