Gaze at details, and the decay too

British still life photographer Rachel Cunningham's debut photography exhibition In Situ (Latin; meaning in place) will make you fall in love with three decrepit sites, in Bhuj, Paris and Cairo.

On display at the Matthieu Foss Gallery, frames of Prag Palace, which has the largest visuals in this series, an old family home near Paris and an Art Deco hotel in Cairo might be on their way to ruin but exude a visual aura, dressed in decadent splendour.

Her camera captures the stunning remains of the Kutch palaceu00a0-- its chandeliers, the main hall and hunting trophies are telling reminders of a glorious past. Likewise, the details within the French family residence dressed in shadow play, showcases a family feud that threatens to phase out priceless treasures into anonymity.

More startling are frames of the run-down hotel in Cairo, where two floors have already caved in even as the rest of the structure continues to be rented out to interested folk.

Where: Matthieu Foss Gallery, Hansraj Damodar Building, ground floor, Goa Street, Ballard Estate.
