Get your vintage fix at Beyond The Canvas, a store that is home to quirky, offbeat bespoke products. From jewellery made with banker's seals to tree bark life-size lamps, get ready to be wowed
The store houses a wide range of products including wearable art, lamps, old chests, home décor, clothes as well as mixed media art. We loved the fact that each piece, handcrafted by her, is bespoke and her collection of jewellery, especially, is impressive. Starting from Rs 1,500, these have been created using everything from carved bamboo to brooches, old coins, fabric, hand-painted glass as well as marbles found on her travel to Jaipur.
Amida Buddha placed in a real tree bark makes for a unique décor piece
Meanwhile, some of the interesting mixed media art (Rs 10,000 onwards) include a wall-hanging made with painted cigarette papers holding a mirror (Rs 15,000), wax paintings (Rs 3,000 onwards) and writing boards painted with portraits of women (Rs 6,000) that make for unique home décor options.
To add a touch of vintage charm to your home, check her range of colourful, old chests. One of them, a rustic red-and-grey one (Rs 8,000), was used by her grandmother. Another collection that caught our fancy is the Amida Buddha series. Known as The Buddha of Light, different sizes of the models find place in life-size lamps and décor pieces created with tree barks, sourced from her backyard in Khandala.
