The latest season features an outstanding cast led by Manoj Bajpayee, with Jaideep Ahlawat and Nimrat Kaur joining him, along with the much-loved returning ensemble, including Sharib Hashmi, Priyamani, Ashlesha Thakur, Vedant Sinha, Shreya Dhanwanthary, and Gul Panag. 

The exhilarating, high-stakes spy action-thriller series is replete with all the signature elements fans have come to love and expect from the series—witty dialogues, high-octane action, thrilling chases, and blurred lines between Srikant’s personal and undercover professional life.

That being said, the series this time around seems to be a bit dull compared to its predecessors. The cards are pretty much laid out at the start, and the cliche track of the hunter becoming hunted. 

Torn between duty, emotions, and responsibilities, Srikant is racing against time, as he must protect not only himself and his family but also the nation from an imminent threat.

The story lays its roots in political conflicts that disrupt peace in North East India. Srikant, who is on the run with JK and his family after becoming a suspect in his boss Kulkarni’s murder, must prove his innocence. 

Jaideep Ahlawat is underutilised here and gives a reminder of Paatal Lok season 2, while Nimrat Kaur impresses as a baddie. Even the supporting cast of veterans, such as Vipin Sharma and Aditya Srivastava, have been handed not-so-meaty parts. 

There is a forced effort to be inclusive and relevant. For example, Srikant’s daughter identifies as non-binary, JK is exploring his dating scene via apps, and Srikant and Suchitra are contemplating divorce. Modern family at its peak indeed. 

Spoiler alert! The best part of this season is the cameo by Vijay Sethupathi as Michael from Farzi. He plays a crucial role in helping Srikant when there’s no hope. 

All in all, the series is definitely binge-worthy, but don’t keep your expectations high because it starts with a bang and then dwindles to something mediocre with a rather abrupt ending, which hints at season 4 in the works. 

If this is what the makers have come up with after four years, they’d rather learn not to take the audience for granted and come back stronger. The Family Man season 3 is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
