Dipika Kakar returns to play the titular role in the upcoming second season of Sasural Simar Ka. The show, which ran for eight years from 2011, made her a household name. She will be seen in a new avatar with the story set in current times. “Simar made me what I am today. It’s where I began my acting journey and met my husband Shoaib Ibrahim, who played Prem. When I was informed that another season is being planned, I was jumping for joy,” says Kakar, who has begun shooting for the promos. The new season will have a fresh cast, which is being finalised. Best remembered for playing the younger version of Jagya in Balika Vadhu, Avinash Mukherjee has landed the lead role in the upcoming second season of Sasural Simar Ka.

Popular television couple Dipika Kakar and Shoaib Ibrahim's reel-life love story culminated into a real-life union when the two met on the sets of COLORS' superhit show Sasural Simar Ka. As Simar and Prem, Deepika and Shoaib got close to each other and found happiness in each other's company. The duo tied the knot in 2018. Talking about their relationship, Dipika said in an interview, "Shoaib and I have connected in the most difficult part of each other's life and we have seen distance, we have been away, so the fear of breaking up is not there between us."
