Jana Nayagan still
Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan is scheduled for release in theatres across the globe on January 9. However, uncertainty looms over the film’s release as the makers continue to grapple with the Central Board of Film Certification’s (CBFC) demands. The CBFC is yet to certify the film, and the matter is currently being heard at the Madras High Court. While several theatre chains opened bookings well in advance, major chains such as PVR and Cinepolis are yet to commence ticket sales.
It is unusual for leading theatre chains to delay advance bookings this close to a film’s release. However, amid uncertainty surrounding Jana Nayagan’s censor certification, major exhibitors are waiting for clarity before opening bookings.
