The CBFC has filed a caveat in the Supreme Court amid the ongoing legal battle over Jana Nayagan’s certification. The Vijay-starrer remains unreleased as it awaits clearance from the censor board

Vijay in Jana Nayagan
Thalapathy Vijay’s upcoming film Jana Nayagan was originally scheduled to hit theatres on January 9. However, the film missed its release date due to ongoing censorship issues. After failing to receive censor certification, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) referred the film to its Revision Committee (RC) for further scrutiny. As the legal battle continues, the CBFC has now filed a caveat in the Supreme Court.
In the caveat, the censor board stated that no orders should be passed in the matter without hearing the CBFC’s side. This move comes amid anticipation that the film’s makers may approach the Supreme Court following a Madras High Court Division Bench order that stayed a single judge’s direction to grant the film a UA certificate.
