The sudden death of popular Assamese singer Zubeen Garg in Singapore on September 19 has sparked widespread uproar. It has been over 13 days since the singer’s demise, and Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma is ensuring that the singer gets justice. After slapping murder charges on his manager and event organisers, the Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Assam Police on Thursday arrested his co-musician Shekhar Jyoti Goswami and co-singer Amritprava Mahanta, taking the total arrests in the case to four.
Munna Prasad Gupta, Special Investigation Team (SIT) Chief and Special DGP, CID, told ANI that following multiple days of interrogation by the SIT/CID, Goswami and Amritprava Mahanta were arrested by the SIT/CID on Thursday night. Garg’s musician Goswami and singer Amritprava, who were present at the spot when the incident happened, were called for interrogation during the day and later arrested, they said.
