Meet Brothers on their shaadi song that questions why the woman must make the biggest sacrifice

‘Track based on our dad’s opinion’

Meet Brothers

Meet Brothers Manmeet and Harmeet Singh evidently have a finger on the pulse of the Indian consumer. Their decision to rope in TV’s blue-eyed girl, Divyanka Tripathi, to feature in a track on the pain that a woman endures while leaving her home after marriage, has struck a chord. “We couldn’t have someone glamorous like a Sunny Leone for Babu da vehda. We wanted someone whom everyone could relate to. Someone who was a star, but beautiful and relevant,” says Harmeet Singh on behalf of the duo.

Roping in singer Asees Kaur for the song was a no-brainer, he says. “She is the best female Punjabi singer we have, and we have collaborated with her in the past. There was no reason to not rope her in.”

It was the musician duo’s late father Sardar Gulzar Singh who served as inspiration for the making of the song. “He once had a lyrical thought. He wondered why it is always the wife who should leave the home that she was brought up in. It’s the place where she got love, after all. We thought it would be nice if we, as male musicians, presented a song on the subject.”

As they continue to work on a gamut of songs under their MB music label, Harmeet says the duo invites musicians from all genres to approach them for collaborations. “You’ll see a lot of [variety] in the Meet Brothers’ [music], henceforth.”
