Be it Thappad, Pink, or now Assi, Taapsee Pannu has been celebrated for her roles in films that confront crimes against women. Amid the release of Anubhav Sinha’s film, the actress has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of a NEET aspirant in Patna due to sexual assault, calling out the distressing frequency of such incidents across India. She expressed anger over how society has normalized these tragedies.
Reacting to the case, the actress said to ANI, "There would have been 79 more such cases on that day, not just here but across the nation. I feel very sad. On average, 80 such incidents occur in the country; it might even be more than that. We have now stopped giving importance to such cases, and we have normalised them, which is very sad. I am angrier about the fact that we have normalised it to such a level that we feel things like these keep happening and are common. That’s what makes me angrier."
