Mandhira Kapur Smith has denied Priya Kapur’s defamation allegations, insisting her claims are truthful and court-recorded. She says the dispute is about protecting her parents’ legacy, not money, and warns she is ready to take legal action if provoked

The ongoing family dispute surrounding the late industrialist Sunjay Kapur has escalated further after his widow Priya Kapur filed a criminal defamation case against his sister Mandhira Kapur Smith, accusing her of making false and damaging statements on social media and digital platforms. The legal complaint alleges that Mandhira’s videos, posts and podcast appearances were aimed at maligning Priya’s reputation and questioning the legitimacy of her marriage to Sunjay.
Reacting strongly to the case, Mandhira dismissed the allegations and maintained that she has spoken only the truth. Speaking exclusively, she said, “All of what I said is already on court record. How am I defaming anyone? If I’ve lied about anything, let them point it out. I can guarantee I haven’t lied.” She added that she was shocked to learn about the case through media reports before receiving any official notice. “The media got the news before I did. This is just another attempt to distract me from what is actually going on,” she remarked.
