Actors often reinvent themselves through new characters. After playing the city belle for years, Parul Gulati has switched gears to take on a more rustic avatar. What surprised everyone was her decision to play a dacoit in Donali, helmed by National Award-winning director E Niwas. The actor gave it her all — from enduring the scorching heat to mastering the desi katta.
“Playing a dacoit in Donali has been one of the most challenging yet exciting roles for me. I wanted to make sure I looked convincing while holding and firing the weapons. It wasn’t just about getting the action moves right, it was about attitude, body language, and authenticity. Learning to handle the desi katta and double-barrel rifle gave me a whole new perspective on the character,” explains Gulati, who shares screen space with Barun Sobti in the film.
