In July, when the first look of Dhurandhar was unveiled, the high-octane song playing in the background caught as much attention as leading man Ranveer Singh’s raw avatar. No surprises then the title track broke the internet when the makers released it on October 16. At the same time, fans were quick to notice something strange — the 2003 number Jogi by Panjabi MC, of which the new song is an iteration, has mysteriously disappeared from Spotify and Apple Music.
Sources tell us that director Aditya Dhar and the makers have bought the rights of Jogi, which in turn is a remixed version of the 1995 track Na Dil De Pardesi Nu, sung by Muhammad Sadiq and Ranjit Kaur. For the Dhurandhar track, composer Shashwat Sachdev and rapper Hanumankind have given a new spin to Jogi.
