In a joint statement, Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao have announced their divorce and say that it “is a start of a new journey” for them after being together for 15 years. The couple intend to “raise and nurture” their son Azad Rao Khan together as co-parents. 

“In these 15 beautiful years together we have shared a lifetime of experiences, joy and laughter, and our relationship has only grown in trust, respect and love. Now, we would like to begin a new chapter in our lives—no longer as husband and wife, but as co-parents and family for each other. We remain devoted parents to our son Azad, who we will nurture and raise together,” read the statement, as they continue their family vacation in Ladakh. Aamir, who is scheduled to resume work for Laal Singh Chadha, will then take off to Kargil for the shoot in four days.
