Sitaare won’t land on OTT

Aamir Khan is riding high on the success of Sitaare Zameen Par, which has crossed R200 crore globally. To celebrate, he recently hosted a bash in Mumbai for his cast and crew. What’s more, multiplex exhibitors and theatre owners are set to felicitate him for not releasing the film on OTT. “Since I haven’t sold the OTT rights and our film is not releasing on OTT, isliye shayad All India Theatre Owners have decided to felicitate me for the step that I have taken. I am happy that they thought about it,” he told reporters, adding that he feels “very humbled.” Additionally, The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) has announced that the superstar will be the chief guest for the 16th edition of the film gala. The festival, which is scheduled from August 14 to 24, will include a special retrospective to celebrate Aamir’s extraordinary contribution to Indian cinema.

The Supreme Court has issued notice on filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh’s plea to quash criminal proceedings against him for alleged copyright infringement in his 2016 film Kahaani 2: Durga Rani Singh. The Court directed that no coercive action be taken and exempted Ghosh from personal appearances during the case. Ghosh challenged a Jharkhand High Court order refusing to dismiss the complaint filed under Section 63 of the Copyright Act. The complaint, filed by Umesh Prasad Mehta, alleges that Ghosh used material from Mehta’s script Sabak, which he had shared in 2015, without permission in the Vidya Balan–starrer.
