On the emotional core of One Last Day, she said, “I’ve gone through heartbreak myself, and writing this film felt therapeutic not in a painful way, but in a gentle one. I didn’t want to tell a story about the moment things fall apart. I wanted to focus on the moment just before that, the fantasy of having one last day with someone you love, where you’re still choosing each other, even though you know you’re about to let go.”
