Dhurandhar 2: Trimurti Films sues makers over unauthorised use of song

Trimurti Films has filed a lawsuit against the makers of Dhurandhar 2, B62 Studios, over the unauthorised use of the song Rang De Lal in the film. The lawsuit sought relief restraining further use of the song, along with damages and other consequential reliefs

Bollywood production company Trimurti Films, on Wednesday, filed a suit against filmmaker Aditya Dhar’s production house, B62 Studios, accusing them of using the song Rang De Lal in Dhurandhar 2 without appropriate authorisation. The song is a recreated version of the song Tirchi Topiwale, whose rights are owned by the Trimurti.

According to a Bar and Bench report, the dispute emerged from the rights to the song, Tirchi Topiwale, originally co-composed by Anand–Milind, with lyrics by Sameer Anjaan. The song originally featured in the 1989 film Tridev, with vocals by Amit Kumar and Sapna Mukherjee.
