Border 2 opens strong at the box office, earning Rs 32.10 crore in India and over Rs 40 crore worldwide on Day 1. Driven by nostalgia and Sunny Deol’s star power, the film has already beaten Dhurandhar’s opening-day record

Sunny Deol-starrer hit the big screens on Friday, January 23, 2026. The film, directed by Anurag Singh, is a spiritual sequel to the 1997 film Border directed by JP Dutta. Border 2`s story was penned by Dutta`s daughter Nidhi. Apart from Sunny Deol, the film also starred Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty and Diljit Dosanjh in primary roles in the war drama.
The film was expected to collect in the range of Rs 30-40 crore on the opening day. True to predictions, the film earned Rs 32. 10 crore in India. Worldwide, the film`s collection crossed Rs 40 crore. With this, the film has beaten the box office juggernaut Dhurandhar`s opening day collection of Rs 28.6 crore. While nostalgia and Sunny Deol`s star presence drove the numbers for day 1, the real test of the film begins after the long Republic Day weekend.
