Actress Bhumi Pednekar was last seen in the Netflix series The Royals. The show, which co-starred Ishaan Khatter, was released in May and received mixed reviews. While the series has been renewed for Season 2 following a cliffhanger ending, Bhumi revealed that the harsh criticism surrounding her look and performance affected her deeply, prompting her to take a nine-month break from acting.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Bhumi said the trolling that followed the release of The Royals impacted her significantly, leading her to step away from film sets. “There was a lot of trolling, a lot of bots. But between all of that, there was also constructive criticism. That experience pushed me to take some drastic decisions for my life in 2025. One of them was taking a break. I didn’t announce it because I didn’t want to dramatise it,” she said.
