>> Waheeda Rehman was born into a traditional Telugu speaking Muslim family in Chingleput, Madras Presidency in British India. She and her sister learnt Bharatnatyam at Mumbai’s Sri Rajarajeswari Bharata Natya Kala Mandir under Guru TK Mahalingam Pillai.

>> Her dream was to become a doctor but, due to circumstances she abandoned this goal. Instead, she hit the silver screen with Telugu films.

>> Waheeda was discovered by Guru Dutt who cast her as a vamp in his production CID (1956).

>> Waheeda Rehman and Dev Anand were a hit pair in the 1950s-60s. Their popular films together were CID, Kala Bazar and Guide. She won a National Award for her role in Reshma aur Shera.
