He might look like the simple boy-next-door, but actor Shreyas Talpade is quite a prankster and has no qualms calling himself a 'naughty boy.' This actor who has four films in his kitty and a couple of more on the anvil, is looking forward to pulling off some more pranks. He gets chatty with CS on the sets of Chemistry, a comedy film that he's co-producing:
Guys just wanna have fun
I think you can call me naughty. Actually, I use pranks to break the ice when I meet a new person. An anonymous tap on someone's shoulder; a fake sneeze that's followed with me spraying water on the person in front of me, are some of the harmless pranks that I love to play. They go a long way in establishing a comfort level with the person that I'm working with. But yes, if someone doesn't like it, I immediately back off.
Devil's advocate
But when it comes to pranks, there is no one to beat Ajay (Devgn). He's constantly thinking of pulling pranks. While shooting in Goa for my next release, Ajay decided to scare Kareena (Kapoor). I was ready to sleep and there came a knock on my balcony door. I opened it to find Tusshar (Kapoor), Kunal (Khemu) and Ajay, all in nightclothes, urging me out. Kareena was watching a film in her room with her staff.
We hopped onto a parapet and started throwing bottles and spoons on her doors and windows. Kunal and Tusshar would ring her doorbell and hide. Eventually, she and her team too got involved and in all the chaos, and I went and hid in her closet.
When things cooled down, Bebo decided to go off to sleep and told her hairdresser to get her nightwear out of the closet. He opened the door and I screamed. The hairdresser's shout made everyone cry out of fear! It was 3am when we finally slept.
Snowy scare
Recently, I was shooting for a Rakesh Mehra production's film (yet to be named) in the snow. The sequence required me to roll down an uphill mound and lie on my face when an actor is supposed to come and call out my screen name.
Cinematographer Ashok Mehta showed me the spot where I had to come rolling down and bury myself in the snow. In the first take, I did that and then just kept waiting for my co-actor to call out my name.
I couldn't breathe and was feeling suffocated. I obviously had missed the mark and had landed at the wrong spot where I couldn't hear my co-star. And to make things worse, I had frozen and all my senses had gone numb. But that's not the end of the story. When I went to warm my feet near the heater, I saw my socks on fire!
