Pratik won't use the surname Babbar for upcoming films

Pratik Babbar will be dropping his last name in his forthcoming projects. The actor who made his debut in Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na under that name, will now only keep his first name.

It is learnt that the decision was made at his maternal grandmother Vidyatai Patil's advice, who Pratik is close to, and who has great influence on him.

The source says, "Even though he retained the Babbar name in his debut film, he's planning to drop it in his next release Dhobhi Ghaat. All the posters and promotion of his films will only have his first name." The actor was recently spotted getting emotional at his mother'su00a0 (the late Smita Patil) documentary tribute.

His decision to change is not the result of a fallout with his dad Raj Babbar, or his new family. Pratik remains close to his half brother and sister Arya and Juhi, and also stepmom Nadira.

Sikander did it too
During the release of Woodstock Villa, Sikander Kher revealed that he's dropped his last name. The actor prefers to stick to his first name instead of tagging dad Anupam's last name on screen.
