Kareena Kapoor tried pushing her sister for a voiceover but the filmmakers were not convinced

Using preliminary voiceover before the start of a movie has been a common trend among filmmakers. However, these voices are usually rendered by men.

Breaking away from the tradition, Salman Khan's forthcoming release, Bodyguard, features a female voice.

When the filmmakers were thinking of suitable voices to do an emotional narrative, Kareena Kapoor apparently tried recommending sister Karisma's name for the same.

The narrative comes at an important juncture in the film.

Not so perfect
A source says, "Initially, Kareena suggested getting Karisma to dub the part. She reasoned that her sister's voice would be perfect for the scene." But the filmmakers had other plans.

They were only keen on either Katrina Kaif's voice or Kareena herself to do it.

It is surprising, considering Katrina's accent has always been under scanner and Karishma has always been lauded for her diction and dialogue delivery.

Atul Agnihotri, who's
producing the Hindi remake of the Malayalam hit, felt that a more readily recognisable voice would fit in better.

"Then someone from the production team suggested Katrina, who has also shot the theme track of the movie with Salman. Eventually, it was decided that Kareena would do the voiceover herself," says our source.

When contacted, Agnihotri said, "Kareena will always be my first choice to lend her voice for this crucial scene. After all, Bodyguard is her film and she is our leading lady."
