Today is Earth Day, observed by the United Nations. This Earth is our only home - there’s no other place for us in the skies or on the moon. Embracing the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the world is one family), it is our responsibility to take care of our shared home.Unfortunately, through violent tendencies and actions, we have caused great harm to it.

This year’s theme is “Our Power, Our Planet.” When we truly believe the planet is ours, we must also own the duty to protect it. Today, all five elements of nature have been polluted by human activity. It is time we shift to renewable energy, to prevent the Earth from becoming even more toxic.
At the Brahma Kumaris’ Shantivan campus in Abu, the electricity and food arrangements for 25,000 visitors every day are entirely powered by solar energy. While large-scale initiatives are possible, each of us can also take small steps on a personal level.
However, the most important transformation is within the human being. By changing our mindset, perspective, and actions, we can truly serve the planet. Through the practice of Rajyoga meditation, we can channel our inner power toward peace, purity, and compassion.
When we transform our memory, attitude, culture, and actions, we contribute to the creation of a new age - Satyug. As we approach the final moments of Kaliyug, it is essential that we first bring change within ourselves, so that change in the world naturally follows.
