India's ace female boxer MC Mary Kom scripted history by winning her fifth consecutive gold at the World Boxing Championships last night with a 16-6 victory over Romanian Steluta Duta.u00a0
It was yet another power-packed perfromance from the super fighter, who has hardly been troubled at the World event.
In the semi-finals, Mary Kom got the better of Alice Kate Aparri of Philippines by a thumping 8-1 scoreline while Duta had beaten Kazakhstan's Nazgul Boranbayeva 10-5.
u00a0Last night's 16-6 marging too shows that the Indian was absolutely dominant once more and is thus a thoroughly deserving champion for the fifth time in a row.
The former Khel Ratna awardee had said immediately after her semi-final win that she would go all out for a gold, however she didn't want to presurrise herself too much.
"I will do my best to win a gold this time too but I'm not thinking too much about it because I need to focus on my game. If I fight well, I will win," Mary Kom had said.
