Spain coach Vicente del Bosque has suggested he will ignore calls for Fernando Llorente to start ahead of Fernando Torres for tonight's World Cup quarter-final against Paraguay.

Llorente's performance after coming on as a second half substitute for Torres in the narrow win over Portugal has lead to a swell of support for the Athletic Bilbao target man to be given a starting berth over his Liverpool counterpart, but del Bosque insists he will persist with Torres again.

"Our forward right now is Fernando (Torres). He has played four games, plenty of minutes, and will play more.

He shoulders a vast amount of work for the team, sticks to the centre-backs (of the opposing team), draws out defences and creates space for (David) Villa and other players behind him. We have got full confidence in him," Del Bosque told reporters.

Torres' strike-partner Villa, who has already scored four times here, backed Torres too. "The only thing you can 'reproach' (Torres) for is not to have scored yet. His desire to be with the team is truly spectacular," Villa told Spanish television. "Torres is not in bad form. He has an admirable character and we all know his World Cup moment will arrive. Hopefully it will be against Paraguay on Saturday," added Villa.
