Rohit Sharma struck a century as India scored 285 for five against Zimbabwe in the opening ODI of the tri-series here Friday.


Rohit Sharma struck a century as India scored 285 for five against Zimbabwe in the opening ODI of the tri-series here Friday.

Sharma made 114 off 119 balls with the help of six fours and four sixes. He got able support from Ravindra Jadeja who scored a run-a-ball 61, smashing five fours.

The two added 132 runs for the fifth wicket after India were reduced to 128 for four in 30 overs.

For Zimbabwe, fast bowler Chris Mpofu picked up two wickets.

Earlier in the day India captain Suresh Raina won the toss and decided to bat

"We are keen to do well here and hope for the best. The wicket looks nice and the outfield too. We are raring to go," Raina said.

Zimbabweu00a0is missing the service of Tatenda Taibu who is injured.
