Police made 15 arrests during the FA Cup third round tie between bitter rivals Manchester United and Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday.
The arrests were for either minor public order offences or criminal damage, a spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said.
United won the match 1-0 thanks to Ryan Giggs's second minute penalty in what was Kenny Dalglish's first match as Liverpool manager since the Anfield great replaced the sacked Roy Hodgson.
Match commander Chief Superintendent Mark Roberts said "risk groups" from both clubs had been identified before the fixture and added "an effective policing operation" had prevented "any serious disorder".
