New IPL contracts May see players opting for other T20 leagues

According to a report in New Zealand's Sunday Star Times, the new IPL contracts could see the cricketers earn just 50 per cent of what they sell at the auction.

Federation of International Cricketers Association (FICA) chief Tim May reckoned that the IPL needs to be 'really, really careful here.'

"There are several T20 competitions coming up, like the Big Bash by Cricket Australia. So, the IPL authorities need to be really, really careful. If they want players to prefer the IPL, then they need to have more player-friendly contracts," May told MiD DAY yesterday. "Our advice to the players is that it's a risk committing to play for a franchise for three years at half the cost," May added.
