Enough is enough. Wayne Rooney has finally put his foot down and is set for a sensational departure from Manchester United, if widespread reports in the British media are to be believed. Manchester United was quick to dismiss speculation that the star striker will be sold in the January transfer window as "nonsense".

Sir Alex Ferguson left Rooney on the bench for last Saturday's Premier League clash with West Bromwich Albion, where the Red Devils squandered a two-goal lead as the Baggies fought back to snatch a 2-2 draw.

A report in the Daily Mail said that Rooney told his England teammates before the Euro 2012 qualifier with Montenegro, that his time at United is coming to an end, and that he is unhappy about his non-selection against Fulham, Everton, Sunderland and Valencia.

Worried
He looked, according to those who know him, like a man beset by personal and professional worries, the newspaper reported.

The report also stated that Rooney was heard complaining to his England teammates that he was "fed up" and would need to find a new club soon.

The source quoted in the Daily Mail said: "Wayne did not look like a guy making idle threats... more like a person determined to prove a point."

However, sources in the report say, Rooney is "determined to go... either now or at the end of his contract" when he would be available on a free transfer.
