Bangladesh has positioned tanks at the entrance of the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury stadium after fans attacked a bus carrying the West Indies team in Dhaka last week.

Authorities in Chittagong are taking no chances, and there are gun-toting guards on every floor of the team hotel and an armed escort accompanies the players to the ground.

Bangladeshi fans threw stones at the West Indies bus and also attacked the house of the Bangladesh captain, Shakib al-Hasan, after Bangladesh were dismissed for their lowest one-day total of 58 in their nine-wicket defeat.

Hosting the World Cup has been seen as a huge honour for Bangladesh and cost the government of one of the world's poorest nations more than 22 million pounds, The Telegraph reports.
