A four-year-old Indian-American boy was mowed down by a speeding car driven by a woman at a traffic intersection, police said.
The victim Dhyanesh, son of Balaji Jeyakannan, was struck by the car and killed on the spot at the junction of Jefferson Avenue and Central Avenue Thursday.
The mishap occurred when the child, holding his mother Nagarani Nagarajan's hand, was crossing the road after the stop sign for motorists.
The vehicle driven by the accused Eisa Templo first hit Nagarani, who lost balance as well as the hold of her kid, following which the child got mowed down by the car.

Balaji Jeyakannan, a native of Madurai in southern India, is working as an IT consultant with Con Edison Company.
Police have arrested the accused and remanded her to custody. The Consulate General of India in New York is helping the victim's parents to transport the body of the child to India. u00a0
