Yashica Dutt and Jane Borges
Writer-director Venita Coelho and Yashica Dutt are among 20 writers who will be bestowed with the Sahitya Akademi Award 2020.
The National Academy of Letters announced the names on March 12, during the opening day of its annual Festival of Letters event.
While Coelho has been named the recipient for the Bal Sahitya Puraskar 2020 for her book Dead as a Dodo, English author Dutt received the Yuva Puraskar for her memoir Coming Out As Dalit among other recipients of the respective awards.
Sunday mid-day writer, Jane Borges, was also nominated for the Yuva Puraskar for her novel, Bombay Balchao. The book lingers on the Goan-Catholic township of Cavel, seemingly isolated from the hurly burly of Mumbai, but living through a life of its own.
