Gym equipment for kids at Powerhouse |
Tommy the treadmill
Designed especially for children, the installed equipment has been named after imaginary characters like Tommy, Caesar and Leonard. They are brightly coloured and appear alien-like. "The area, which is currently under renovation, will be very colourful because young ones aren't too fond of stereo type set-ups.
Not even for a split second should they feel they're working out, so we have designed the entire set up accordingly, " says Rajib, managing director, Powerhouse, the host gym.

If you think it will be a tedious task to send your kid to gym everyday, how about bringing the equipments home? "As for safety, there will be no sharp edges in the machines; there will be trainers and supervision by specialised professionals. Such workouts will help kids maintain correct posture and improve concentration and coordination," ensures Rajiv. The speed knobs and weights are controlled, they claim, so that there are no ugly side-effects.
Why kids need to work out Several studies have suggested that in the first two years of primary school, the incidence of weakness in the muscles supporting the spine is as high as 70 per cent. At this age, 20 per cent of young people are affected by obesity, and one can observe a reduction in the ability to move, especially in the case of physical activities, which require speed, muscular strength and general endurance. |
