After the Home Ministry withdrew the Person of Indian Origin (PIO) card issued to Creig Maxwell Sterry -- the estranged husband of supermodel Ujjwala Raut -- he was served a deportation notice by the Goa police.
The filmmaker has been asked to leave the country within 72 hours. Sterry married Ujjwala five years back. Recently he had accused Ujjwala of stab him and their child.
The UK national claimed that he was being victimised. Sterry's marriage with Ujjwala is on the rocks after the supermodel moved a family court in Mumbai for divorce.
Maxwell appeared before the Superintendent of Police on August 10 with originals of his PIO card but went into hiding since then in the wake of Centre withdrawing his PIO status.
Goa police were on the look out for him and had claimed him to be absconding after he was not found at his residence and office despite repeated visits.
In the meantime, Sterry moved the Goa Bench of Bombay High Court seeking temporary injunction against the order withdrawing his PIO status. The high court bench, however, refused to give him immediate relief and fixed August 28 as the date for next hearing.
Sterry, who produced 'The Bunker' starring Jason Flemming and John Carlite, gave up his career and shifted to India in 2005 after Ujjwala delivered a baby girl.
