Two coaches of a Kolkata Metro train derailed near the Central Station here on Wednesday, triggering panic among passengers, none of whom were injured, an official said.
The accident took place when the Kavi Subhas-bound train got stranded in a tunnel. The passengers were evacuated through an emergency exit, the Metro Railway spokesperson said.
"The two coaches got derailed while the train was entering the Central Station. The derailment occurred due to a mechanical snag," the spokesman said.
The Metro services were disrupted between Maidan and terminal Dum Dum stations, the spokesperson said, adding that "we are running a truncated service between Maidan and Kavi Subhas".
