Traffic cop slaps biker

A constable yesterday slapped a 25-year-old biker who had allegedly jumped the traffic signal at Dorabji's chowk on Ambedkar Road in Pune cantonment.


A constable yesterday slapped a 25-year-old biker who had allegedly jumped the traffic signal at Dorabji's chowk on Ambedkar Road in Pune cantonment.

Two transferred
Two constables have been transferred for dereliction of duty. This was the second such incident in the city in 24 hours. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Vishwas Pandhare transferred Police Constable Jyotiram More from the Cantonment traffic division.

Pandhare said that More was about to give motorcycle rider, Rohit Subhash Nikam, the L-temp when he started used filthy language against More. More then threw the vehicle and slapped Nikam.

DCP Pandhare said, "I appeal to citizens against using instigating language against police performing their duty. If they have any complaints against traffic constables, they can approach the concerned officer. I have asked my constabulary to avoid insulting language."
