With 50 lakh people expected to turn out across the city, the Mumbai police has gone to great lengths to ensure the day goes off without a hitch. Traffic plans have been prepared and the police have issued maps leading to all the important immersion points

Traffic police arrangements
37 roads have been closed to vehicles
50 roads have been made one-ways
13 roads closed for heavy vehicles
61 roads made no parking zones
3,000 traffic policemen (2,700 constables and 300 officers) on duty
Speaking to MiD DAY, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Vivek Phansalkar explained that all the main and arterial roads connecting to the five main visarjan points are closed.
The traffic police, along with the local police, will start towing vehicles parked on the procession routes from 8.00 am tomorrow. The police request people not to park their vehicles on roads that are used for the procession.
"We wish the people a great, enjoyable and safe Anant Chaturdashi and appeal to the public to cooperate with the Mumbai police by becoming their eyes and ears. It is in the interest of the city and people, and also in the interest of security," Phansalkar said. u00a0
