Due to government's apathy, 160 families of city cops are living in constant fear

The Frazer Town housing complex that is home to 160 cops and their families lies in ramshackle with no one bothered about those living there.

The complex is located right behind an open drainage, which hasn't been cleaned since long. Also, the houses are in a dilapidated state with leaking ceilings and derelict plasters.

"The fact that the main door of our house is feeble gives us sleepless nights.

She added that they have complained about it to the authorities concerned, but in vain. Gayatri, another woman, lamented, "In the last 10 years, we have spent Rs 25,000 just to carry out repairs of our house.

When we complained to the authorities, they asked us to vacate the place."

Sharath Saxena, MD of Police Housing Corporation, said, "We have asked the government for funds to carryout maintenance work. We would require a few crore rupees to repair this particular housing complex."

Whereas S Natesh, chief engineer of the Police Housing Corporation, said, "We have received requests for repair works and have forwarded them to the state DGP. However, we have no idea when they'll be approved."
