Fire department of MIDC hikes its charges for housing complexes and SEZs
Now it will cost you more to ensure safety from fire breakouts. The Fire department of Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) has hiked the charges for providing fire services to residential complexes and commercial buildings including the IT companies and special economic zones in its designated area.
The new rates, which would come into immediate effect, will be a jolt for the upcoming projects in MIDC areas.
As per the revised rates, residential complexes will have to shell out 15 per cent more while the IT companies and SEZ projects will have to pay 30 per cent more on the current fire service fee.
"It is challenging for us to cope up with the ever increasing demand for fire services in high-rise buildings. MIDC has decided to hike the charges levied upon buildings more than 15m in height," Deshmukh said. "The charges will have to be paid in advance by the developers, or else they won't get the final No Objection Certificate (NOC) to continue with the construction work," he added.
