President Pratibha Patil has appointed Chief Justices of five High Courts - Rajasthan, Allahabad, Patna, Sikkim and Kerala.
Justice Deepak Verma, presently a Judge in the Karnataka High Court, has been appointed as Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court, according to a Rashtrapati Bhawan communique.
Justice Chandramauli Kumar Prasad has been appointed Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court whereas Justice Aftab Hussain Saikia will take over as Chief Justice of the Sikkim High Court.
Presently a Judge of the Kerala High Court, Justice Jacob Benjamin Koshy will assume charge as Chief Justice of the Patna High Court.
Justice Samindar Rudrayya Bannurmath will be the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court.

All these appointments will come in to effect on the date when the respective Judges assume charge of their new officeso cut down interest rates.
