There is no need to decipher Kamasutra if you have an Internet broadband connection at hand.

Everything you wanted to know about sex will be made available to you at just a click of the mouse. What is more interesting is that if you have something to share, you can do that too.

The website, https://www.carnalpedia.org/, offers free, peer-editable information on sex and porn material and is built on MediaWiki, the same platform that powers Wikipedia.

The design of the porn encyclopedia also reminds its users of Wikipedia, the site that has become the web's favourite destination for finding facts on just about any topic under the sun. The layout is identical, as is navigation and organisation of content within article pages. It also maintains the wiki convention of being free to access and open to anyone to create and/or edit submissions.

Though porn and sex content is one of the most easily searchable content on the Web, yet carnalpedia integrates topics like porn stars, porn films, sex positions, sex health and sex industry.

Launched in March, carnalpedia has already become home to over 1,20,000 articles, making it the largest online sex encyclopedia, the creators claimed. As on June 5, there were 1,21,714 articles online, apart from images and graphics.

According to Jeremy Haddock, the creator of the website, "Everyone, including adult content companies, webmasters, porn stars and sex enthusiasts can share their wealth of knowledge on the site, including
the creation of pages for any products or services they would like to increase awareness of. The fact that Wikipedia has a certain type of audience leaves a lot of information about sex and the adult industry either blocked or censored."

"Having a wiki geared exclusively for the topic of sex, as well as having all the articles using the Restricted to Adults website labels, allows us a lot of latitude in what we can provide," he added.

All of Carnalpedia's article pages will be labelled with the Restricted ToAdults (RTA) tag, which will prevent them from being accessed on computers equipped with services like NetNanny that only allow age-appropriate content to be viewed.
