As the rest of Greater Kailash sleeps, The International Diner dazzles in blue. It's well past midnight, but their menu's far from groggy. We walk in past paanwaalas and howling dogs, only to be welcomed by smartly turned-out staff and chart-topping beats. The place looks plain and pleasing, with an al fresco area and an elevated bar lounge. As we seat ourselves, the young co-owners drop in for a greeting, and then get to the grub.

Lure of the desert
American classics share space with Indian and European preparations, but it's their Mediterranean that we recommend. Must munches: the melt-in-the-mouth Patlican kebabs, Moroccan chicken skewers, Saeed Bin Samak and Dajaj Meshwi. In the main course, the tenderloin steak proves succulent and saucy. The Caesar salad is rich too, if you'd rather stick to the evergreens. And oh, that reminds us, the place reeks of greenery galore.

The breakfast specials range from the quintessential English breakfastu00a0-- eggs with an assortment of sidesu00a0-- to Arabian pancakes and sharaabi parathas. In true diner spirit, the all-day section features comfort food in the form of eggs, burgers, fries, pasta and shawarmas to please every tastebud.

The bar is well-stocked, with a variety of indigenous and imported wines, whiskies and the works, and checkered lights for extra effect. The giant dispensers are quite a sight. You can't help but ask where you'd find those for the home. The cocktails could do with a couple of additions, though. The menu leaf makes sure it's self-explanatory enough for you to not feel embarrassed at any point. The lights are low, the sport screens alive and the spirit abuzz, even as there are few guests at that forbidden hour. Fancy a quieter corner? Stay clear of the lounge; stick to the dining area. In desserts, their signature pistachio dumplings makes sure there is no pretext on which you can dump this deal.
