According to Rajgad Police, Patil was returning to the city from Satara in his SUV when the incident took place.
Around 1 am, two unidentified men riding a motorcycle overtook his car and signaled him to stop.
"No sooner did he stop that the men started abusing him for allegedly brushing against their motorcycle," said Inspector Sanjay Bothe of the Rajgad police station.
He added that as soon as Patil got down, they took him to an isolated area and robbed him of valuables like his chain, ring, cash and mobile handset, and decamped with the booty.
"We have registered a case against unknown people and are investigating the case," he said.u00a0
