A 22-year-old man who was allegedly sexually harassing his sister-in-law was murdered by his brother near Lonavala on Monday. After the murder, the brother of the deceased went to the Wadgaon Maval police station and confessed about the crime.

Police have identified the deceased as Rajaram Kruparam Chauhan, a resident of Goregaon in Mumbai. His brother Devram Kruparam Chauhan (26), a resident of Pimple Gurav, has been arrested on charges of murder.

Devram worked in a grocery shop in Pimpri, while Rajaram was working in a company at Goregaon in Mumbai.

"When Devram went for work, Rajaram used to visit his house. Rajaram sexually harassed his sister-in-law for nearly a month. Rajaram also used to threaten her to be silent, but Devram came to know about Rajaram's activities recently," said Police Inspector Maruti Ingale of Wadgaon police station.

"Devram was agitated, but was ignoring it. However, on Monday morning Rajaram took Devram along with him to Lonavala. While returning back, on the pretext of recovering money from a friend, Rajaram took Devram into a field. Rajaram then attacked Devram with a sharp knife he had brought along, in which Devram got injured seriously. Devram retaliated and with the same knife stabbed Rajaram."

Rajaram was then bludgeoned to death by Devram, who threw a heavy stone on his head. Devram, who was seriously injured, later went to the Wadgaon Maval police station and confessed about the crime, said Ingale.
