Will you commit suicide if your husband refuses to have lunch? Probably not. But Manju, a resident of Tigri Extension in south Delhi, did just that. In a bizarre incident, the housewife hanged herself after her husband refused to eat lunch. The incident was reported on Sunday afternoon.

A senior police official said that the deceased, Manju, used to live in the area with her husband Rakesh who runs a small business.

"Rakesh returned home from work at around 1pm on Sunday afternoon. Manju served lunch, but Rakesh rushed out of the house to meet his sister who lives in the neighbourhood. Following which, they had a fight," the police official said.

Reportedly, Manju went to her sister-in-law's place to persuade Rakesh to eat but each time he refused saying he was not hungry.

"The last time Rakesh told Manju that he had two parathas and would have lunch later. On hearing this, Manju had a heated argument with her husband and rushed out of the house. Rakesh followed her but when he reached home he found her hanging," said the police official.

Manju was rushed to Madan Mohan Malviya Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Police said that they have not recovered any suicide note from the deceased. Manju got married to Rakesh around two years ago. An SDM level inquiry has been initiated into the matter and body has been sent for post-mortemz.
