Consumed sedatives inside car; hospitalised in critical conditionA 25-year-old youth allegedly consumed sedatives after his love affair went awry and his family members fixed his marriage with another girl.
The incident took place in Mandawali area of east Delhi late on Tuesday night. The youth attempted suicide inside his car. A senior police officer said that before cops could reach the spot his family members had taken him to Balaji Max Hospital where he is undergoing treatment.
It is reported that the man wanted to marry his girlfriend but his family members were against his wishes. His relatives fixed his marriage at another place. Since then he had been heartbroken and on Tuesday he allegedly tried to kill himself.
Police refused to divulge details pertaining to the case as they were yet to take the statement of his family members.
"The person who allegedly tried to kill himself is identified as Harish, a resident of Rohini. He consumed sedatives in a bid to commit suicide. His family members said that he first went to Gurgaon to meet his maternal uncle and after that he went to West Vinod Nagar in his car (number plate HRBSQ8008), where he attempted suicide," said a senior police officer.u00a0
The car was stationed near Church Apartment near West Vinod Nagar. A passer-by noticed him consuming sedatives and informed the police about the incident. A DD entry was made in this regard at Mandawali police station.
"We are looking into the matter. Harish is undergoing treatment and his condition is stated to be critical," said the police.
